It started with a jam jar and a grandma's recipe

Tropic wasn't dreamed up in a boardroom. It started at a kitchen table in 2004, when 15-year-old Susie Ma recreated her grandmother's homemade body scrub recipe to help her mum pay the bills. She filled 50 recycled jam jars, took them to Greenwich Market — and sold out on day one.

Susie's grandmother was a medicinal chemist and toxicologist who taught her a simple belief that still guides Tropic today: when you feed your skin well, it shows. That scrub — now known as Body Smooth — became the foundation of a brand that's gone on to win hundreds of industry awards, earn over 70,000 five-star reviews, and reach millions of customers worldwide.
